Off Kilter
That's where I am today. I decided to buck up and keep going. I've felt off kilter for a while now and I haven't quite figured out how to right the world. It started long before vacation, so it has nothing to do with that. Vacation was actually a great distraction ! I think my biggest problem is just the isolation that winter brings. I'm trying my darnedest to get my exercise program back on track but hibernation mode has a grip on me. The good news is I finally kicked myself in the behind, got busy and actually got some things done. As a result most of the post-vacation shambles has been cleared ! There is still much to do so but it no longer feels overwhelming. Getting things done actually makes me feel better so I'm holding on to that as motivation. I was looking at today as another fresh start but you know what, I'm tired of "fresh starts". I've had too many of them and I feel like it's becoming a crutch and an excuse. So today is just another 24 hours. It's another 24 hours to "get it right". It's 24 hours to do all the things I set out to do when I started Nutrisystem and trying to get fit. If these 24 hours aren't "perfect", well - there are 24 more tomorrow to try again.
A while back I decided it's time to stop counting days. I started Nutrisystem on January 4, 2019 and I remain committed to the program. I reached my goal weight on July 23, 2021. After taking a break from exercise to focus on work I gained a bit of weight back. On December 28, 2021 I started working on getting back to my goal weight. The next milestone in this paragraph will be the day I get back to 150 or less pounds. I started this "new" blog since the journey I started back in 2019 is over and I'm transitioning to my new life.
Breakfast was pancakes with sugar free syrup and a yogurt. Morning snack was a chocolate shake with peanut butter powder. Lunch was a pepperoni pizza melt with a chef salad. Afternoon snack was cottage cheese and oatmeal cookies. Dinner was an Italian sausage & turkey pepperoni pizza with roasted veggies. Evening snack was a lemon zest cake.
I got about 35 minutes in on the treadmill today during my lunch hour. I forced myself to do it at my "old" pace and even though I thought I was going to die .. I did it ! I had more workouts planned for after work but it was so nice out (nearly 50 degrees !) I decided to wash my car instead. Yes - there might still be snow on the ground but the outdoor faucet was accessible and my car was filthy. I tried to get it washed Saturday but Delta Sonic was an absolute madhouse so I got gas and beat it out of there. Not to mention they've raised their prices to ridiculous amounts. So I spent a little over an hour washing it and I actually enjoy the process and it's good exercise. I do a more thorough job AND I don't have to tip myself .. lol ! So I saved about $30 and got some fresh air !
I haven't written for the past week and you didn't miss much. I worked all week and Saturday was casino day with my mom. We had a fun day as usual and had dinner at Upstate Tavern. I had a cup of corn chowder, the meatloaf dinner (which comes with mashed potatoes and green beans) and a glass of wine. We skipped dessert and I actually skipped my usual trip to Opal's for coffee and a pastry too. Sunday I went to Wegmans and Walmart and even though I only needed "a few things" I came home $300 later ! I stocked up on a few things that have been in short supply lately, otherwise I wouldn't have spent quite so much. I'm not understanding why cat food is still in such short supply while the dog food aisle is overflowing. I guess everybody went out and got a cat to keep them company while COVID raged. Yogurt seems to be an issue too - the Light & Fit brand that I buy is getting hard to find. I did score some of my 2 favorite flavors at Walmart - creme brulee and key lime - so I lucked out there. I don't know if it's in short supply or if the grocery stores just don't have enough employees to keep the shelves stocked. I've noticed more and more older workers in the stores so it seems like a lot of seniors are taking advantage of the labor shortage to go back to work and supplement their social security. A couple years ago most businesses probably wouldn't have hired them ! 2022 is shaping up to be a repeat of 2021 so I guess I'll hope for a better 2023 ! On that note, I'm heading for bed !
